According to a 2022-security survey, 77% of Swiss feel it is right for Switzerland to support sanctions against Russia but only 27% support a NATO alliance. Switzerland has officially called for the return of Crimea and all occupied Ukrainian territory back to Ukraine. Dec 1 - Switzerland has frozen an estimated 7.7 billion Swiss francs ($8.81 billion) in financial assets belonging to Russians, the government said on the Friday, under sanctions designed to punish Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine. Before this giant stride, on 16 August the Federal Council decided to enact further sanctions against Russia. This aligns Switzerland with the EU, which adopted these latest measures as part of its eleventh package of sanctions.
